In the heart of the West Village, dozens of queer New Yorkers, including drag performers and social activists, gathered at the NYC AIDS Memorial Park to celebrate National Coming Out Day — and to show their support for Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani.
Attendees and guests speakers said they view Mamdani as the candidate who best represents the queer community’s interests, as they discussed the issues currently most impacting their communities: gender-affirming care, rent increases, and wage stagnation.
