For a year, Cuyler Gore Park in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, has been closed for reconstruction. In November, having undergone $5.6 million dollars in upgrades, the park quietly reopened to the public. Lauren Harris visited the park to see what Brooklynites think of their revamped digs.
While each parkgoer Lauren spoke to was impressed by the park’s new playground, improved seating options, redesigned splash pad, and increased access to lawns, all remained in the dark as to the true meaning of the park’s name.
In this audio postcard you’ll hear what Brooklynites are enjoying most about the new Cuyler Gore Park, and Lauren unpacks the definition of the little known, Brooklyn specific feature called a “gore.”
