Sometimes, people think their life is on track. For Maria Davis, this was true. For 36 years, she worked her way up in New York as a model and bartender and connected with music industry insiders. With that, she started “Mad Wednesdays,” an artist showcase that helped many now-famous talents, like Jay-Z, get their starts. Just as she was ready to go all-in with her music promotion, a diagnosis hit without notice. That changed everything about how she viewed herself, her work and her community.
